Advice/Suggestions Needed
« on: April 17, 2012, 12:43:19 PM »
Here's the problem... my Generations disc cracked and now I can't run my game.  So... do I need to go and buy a new Generations game?  Should I uninstall Gen so that I can use my LN disc to play?

What would you do?  Any help/advice/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Sorry if this has been asked already but I couldn't find anything relating to this.

Your serial code is still in your registry if you did not uninstall it.

If ya really want to play with Gen, download it from Origin. You can use the serial code you already have.

To locate the code go to:

Start Search> (type in) regedit (enter)
>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
>SOFTWARE
>Wow6432Node (This folder will only appear if you have 64-bit Windows! If not, ignore this step.)
>Electonics Arts
>Sims
>The Sims 3 Generations
>ergc

The code in the Data column is your registry (key) code.  ;)

Is the serial code and key code - the one that came in the box different from each other?  And I haven't done anything.  I just can't play.

I heard back from EA today and they want me to send my original disc back to them along with a cheque for $13 and if I meet the requirements they'll replace it. I'm past the 90 day requirement... got the disc in December. Here's a copy of what they've said:

Quote
Product Exchange or Return:
If you meet one of the following criteria and you are within the 90-day warranty period, you can return the product to Electronic Arts for a replacement.

The product was determined to be defective by an Electronic Arts Technical Support representative.
The product has been determined to be incompatible with your computer by an Electronic Arts Technical Support Representative.
The product will not work on your computer because you do not meet the requirements.

When sending us your product, be sure to include a photocopy of the sales receipt showing the date of purchase, as well as the Requested Information shown below.

So I went shopping at NRaas for Twallan's NoCD hack.

Gadam, the return policy for a car is more liberal than that! Why am I not suprised.  :shakehead:

The NoCD mod works just fine. I use it myself. You may want to still DL it from Origin. Might come in handy.

Gonna do that for all of my EA games from now on... download the digital copy as soon as I register the next game... whichever one it is.  As for all my existing EA games.. I'll be doing that soon, probably on the weekend.  I'm liking the NoCD .. faster than starting up with the CD :)
